Frequently Asked QuestionsThe sixth annual film festival will be held from July 27 through August 1, 2010. The fifth annual Traverse City Film Festival featured 123 screenings of 71 films and 50 shorts from over 30 countries, with over 96,000 admissions. More than forty of the films were represented by 65 industry guests. The festival also included 5 free industry film panels and free outdoor movies on the bay, plus a new kids festival and a new film school. Traverse City is located in the northwest corner of Michigan's lower peninsula in the resort region on Grand Traverse Bay. We do not accept official feature or short film submissions. The Traverse City Film Festival is by invitation only. Filmmakers may submit their films unofficially and they will be passed on to the programmer. There is no submission form or fee, no feedback mechanism, and no guarantee that the film will be viewed. Filmmakers who wish to submit their films under these conditions may mail a copy on DVD to TCFF, PO Box 4064, Traverse City MI 49685. Review copies will not be returned. Volunteers are the foundation of the Traverse City Film Festival. Sign up online now applications for the 2008 festival. Leadership positions are available. The festival is held in downtown Traverse City at five separate venues: the State Theatre, Old Town Playhouse, Milliken Auditorium, Lars Hockstad Auditorium, City Opera House, and the Open Space Park on the waterfront. Open Space Outdoor Movies: classic films are shown on the waterfront in the city's Open Space Park on giant inflatable screen. No admission is charged. All films shown outdoors are rated G, PG or PG-13. Seating is first-come, first-served. Sunday is rain out night - if a film can't be shown earlier in the week due to weather, it will be shown on Sunday instead. The festival is funded by local and national businesses, community groups and individuals. Sponsors are needed for each theater, film, and filmmaker.
